    Excavating machine for switch conversion in the UK with Selectron control technology

    Rhomberg Sersa Rail Group together with Amey UK has won an outline contract for switch conversion in the UK from 2014 to 2024. An enormously important part of this order is the introduction of new high-performance machines for conversion work relating to the tracks. Sersa Maschineller Gleisbau AG (SMG) purchased the ITC312.BL4 excavating machine from ITC SA, and developed significant components for it in-house together with subsuppliers. Selectron was able to supply the entire vehicle control system, and also developed the application software in close cooperation with SMG.

    In early 2017, the Puebla tram-train in Mexico went into operation successfully. Two Citylink light rail vehicles were built by Stadler Rail Valencia in Spain and now provide excellent transportation service.

    Right on schedule for the start of transport operations between Germany and the Netherlands, Stadler received the permit for electric multiple units of the FLIRT type. They will be used on the lines of the Lower Rheine network.

    SIM1131 is the new simulation environment that allows IEC61131-3 application programs programmed and compiled on a Windows PC to be run and tested independently from the hardware. This offers the programmer of the vehicle software advantages in terms of flexibility during testing and troubleshooting.

    Last year, handover took place of the first modernized metro trains of a sizable contract with the Metro Budapest by the company Metrowagonmash from Russia.
    The wheel slide protection system used in the Metro trains WSP 800 V04 is based on Selectron's device family MAS 83x/73x.

    New Class 88 locomotives for Direct Rail Services UK - equipped with the ultra-modern TCMS Selectron

    The company Direct Rail Services operates a fleet of ten new Class 88 locomotives from Stadler Rail in the UK. For professionally equipping these locomotives, the TCMS belongs to Selectron.
    The Class 88 Dual can be driven either electrically or with diesel engines. It is a development of the Class 68 platform and is used for the transport of passengers or goods.

    In Newsletter 3 of 2016, we reported on further cost reductions in wiring technology with new SIL modules, new network connections, and new assemblies with high number of channels.
    So that these and other extension modules of the Smartio® control system are used not only remotely in a CAN network, Selectron is expanding its product range to include low-cost Ethernet node modules.
    With cost optimization and decentralized signal acquisition, Selectron continues the recent trend with control system Smartio®. Time and cost savings for the customer arise through the use of new devices.

    Last year, in September's newsletter, we widely reported that Selectron continues to expand activities in North America, with equipment produced for the US market at Knorr-Bremse's subsidiary in the US – the Knorr Brake Company in Westminster, Maryland. This allows Selectron to meet the requirements of the Buy America Act (BAA).
    This is an important step in maintaining successful client relationships in the US and help toward further expansion.

    We proudly announce yet another member of the Selectron team in the US. Since January 9, Wayne Williams has been responsible for TCMS project management at the Knorr Brake Company in the US.
