Preview TOP 1131 V3.1
The new TOP1131 V3.1 management tool will be available from about mid-July 2007 and integrates the following new functions:

  • Recording with system data logger
This data logger is integrated in the MOS. No blocks have to be integrated in the CAP1131 application. The LogData memory is freely scalable and the system data logger permits permanent data recording with the CPU85x.
  • Cross-network recording
Permits simultaneous recording of various CPUs in the group of networks.
  • Auto LogData export
Recorded LogData is automatically exported by the TOP1131.
  • Recipes
The recipe is a container of variables with a specified nominal value. The specified nominal value can be compared with the current variable values and loaded. The status display shows the status of the nominal and actual values.
  • Copy&Paste
Node objects in the tree views and CAP1131 project references can be copied and pasted using the clipboard.
  • PLC parameters
The user can export the PLC parameters into a file and import them from a file. The PLC parameter file can be configured as a specified nominal value and can be loaded onto the controller.

Outlook to the new CAP1131 release
Selectron will be presenting a new CAP1131 release in Autumn 2007. As a preview, we would briefly like to enumerate the most important innovations in this CAP1131 release:

  • Permits version management of CAP projects · Makes optimized printing functions available
  • Supports the target data logger from TOP1131
  • Simplifies programming (e.g.: Tooltip for variables) and permits copying between various CAP projects.

At present, the first tests are in progress with pilot customers. Our Sales department will be pleased to provide you with information if you would like to know more about the new functions of the new CAP1131 release.

Applications/references

Tunnel railway of Oberhasli power stations (Switzerland)
Floods caused heavy damage to two of the three tunnel railway vehicles and it was only possible to return one vehicle to service with the existing spare parts. A solution was found for the second vehicle using a DC chopper available on the market, a standard frequency inverter for increasing the battery voltage and by using an asynchronous motor.
The mechanical engineering as well as the mechanical and electrical conversion work was performed by Stadler Winterthur. Railtec Systems was responsible for all the electrical engineering , while products from the Selectron Systems AG MAS-T series were used for the train control and management system.
The requirements are very exacting due to the very different conditions in the tunnel, meaning that all components had to be very high quality. It was essential to meet these requirements.
Particular attention was also paid to the safety equipment in order to guarantee reliable stopping in any operating condition, even on the steep sections.
All of the safety functions are directly implemented in the hardware and continue to function even if the train control and management system should fail. Other safety functions are implemented in the vehicle control software.
The third vehicle is going to be converted in Winterthur in summer 2007. This will be followed by tests that require completion for triple-unit traction.
Experience gained during the project shows that even special vehicles can be equipped with standard components. This offers the obvious advantage of greater availability of parts.

Seeland Classic Tour of the Tour de Berne 2007

For the fifth time now, Selectron took part in the companies' and people’s race in this year's Tour de Berne. More that 1000 cycling fans lined up to start in the various categories on Saturday, May 12. The sun was shining brightly but there was a strong headwind, and the Selectron team achieved a creditable 6th place in the "Race" category after the 28 km course that included a hill climb. The Selectron team in the "People" category (no hill climb) finished in 15th place. We would like to congratulate everyone for this excellent performance!

Kind regards
