New solutions
Comprehensive automation solution for rail vehicle manufacturers subsystems such as doors, sanitary areas, heating, ventilation and air conditioning

The concept facilitates engineering, startup and maintenance for the user. As well as the hardware, an ingenious user library is available for this purpose. The controller has a number of input/output signals tailored to the application. Project planning and development times are efficiently reduced, startup procedures can be quickly and easily realised, while diagnostic functions optimize maintenance and monitoring. All of the modules are integrated into Selectron's software tools (Symphony®). The new Selectron® MAS 68x-T controller family is specifically designed for use in rail vehicle subsystems and offers a cost-effective solution compared to our modular system because the compact controller is precisely tailored to the subsystem with the appropriate number of input/output signals.

Three variants will be available for the InnoTrans 2008 fair.
Our high-end solution for vehicle controllers
Processing more and more data ever more rapidly is a challenge for vehicle control and management devices and diagnostic computers for improved vehicle serviceability. Our new system provides a centralized and distributed automation solution with a wide range of networking options and high performance. The new CPU 831-TG makes the Selectron® MAS controller family ready for today's challenges.
- The module offers a cycle time that is at least three times faster than our current solution. All interfaces are serviced more rapidly and extensive program code is processed faster.
- An expansion bus for connecting up to 12 modules with digital and analog input/output signals for connecting sensors and actuators.
- An expansion bus for connecting additional communication modules such as CAN and, later, MVB.
- Two electrically isolated interfaces for flexible interface connection of CANopen vehicle bus systems.
- Ethernet interface with M12 connection suitable for railway applications for setting up rapid communication pathways with a wide bandwidth.
- Serial interface as a combination of RS232/RS485/422 for connecting third party equipment such as GPS, GSM, terminal, etc.
- SD memory card for backup and straightforward program change
The new high-end solution will be available from the end of 2008 onwards.
The alternative solution in the analog area
A cost-effective solution is required in the analog area for many standard applications such as fill-level monitoring, pressure acquisition as well as some control applications. Additional signal conditioning with 12-bit analog modules for the MAS 73x-T series is Selectron's answer to this requirement.
- The AIT 731-TG module offers 2 groups of 4 analog inputs in multiplex mode for standard applications such as fill level monitoring, pressure acquisition, etc. in 12-bit resolution.
- The AIT 731-TG module offers 2 groups of 2 analog inputs in multiplex mode for standard applications such as fill level monitoring, pressure acquisition, etc. in 12-bit resolution.
Both modules offer flexible signal conditioning: the analog inputs have a voltage range of ±10 V or a current range of ±20 mA, while the analog outputs have a voltage range of ±10 V or a current range of 0…+20 mA.

Training & Support department has been reinforced
We are delighted to welcome Werner Hunziker, who started working for us in the Technical Documentation department on January 7, 2008. Werner Hunziker is responsible for updating and writing our technical documentation. He will be working to ensure the documentation is written and revised in a way that is appropriate for our customers. This will also be possible thanks to improvements in the form of new tools. Werner Hunziker was previously a teacher working in schools in the southern Jura foothills region. He also prepared handbooks for the schools, thereby collecting experience in the field of documentation. Werner Hunziker's direct phone line is +41 32 387 62 58 and his e-mail address is werner.hunziker@selectron.ch

Selectron Winter Weekend Fabruary 2008
Training & Support department has been reinforced
This year's Selectron Winter Weekend was held on 16/17 February. 21 employees, some with their partners, took part in a wonderful skiing weekend with fantastic weather. The pistes were in perfect condition and the snow was good. As in all previous years, a small chalet located in the middle of the skiing area was rented for the Selectron Winter Weekend. On Saturday evening, the participants got together to prepare a very fine fondue and enjoyed a great evening in a happy and relaxed atmosphere. For those who wanted, it was possible to take advantage of the clear night skies for night-time skiing. All in all, it was a perfect weekend.
Come with us to the Tour de Berne 2008 .... Starting fee and Selectron cycling kit included!
Training & Support department has been reinforced
All of our customers who have been bitten by the cycling bug are warmly invited to join the Selectron Team in the cycling event on Saturday, 3rd May 2008! Selectron will pay the starting fee and is also giving away an exclusive Selectron cycling kit to each invited rider. Anyone interested is invited to contact Ferdinand Simmler for information and registration details, by 21 April 2008 at the latest (tel. no. +41 32 387 62 04 or by e-mail: ferdinand.simmler@selectron.ch). Please state your full name, age and your size for cycling kit. We are hoping that many of you will be able to join us. This year's Tour de Berne is the 85th since its inception and is taking place on 3rd and 4th May. The new route (in the Frienisberg area) will present a new challenge for many riders. On Saturday, 3rd May 2008, riders from companies, associations, schools, etc. in various categories can take part in the "Seeland Classic". Some riders from Selectron will also be taking part this year. The main event on the Sunday is the UIC Ladies' World Cup.
